Mels Akhmedov is a highly experienced and accomplished practitioner in the Banking & Finance practice having worked for a number of leading banking structures and companies for over 20 years. He has gained significant expertise in construction and infrastructure work, including transactional construction law, procurement, and structuring of construction and engineering projects, the documentation associated with such projects and risk mitigation measures, and dealing with transactions related to public-private partnerships.

Mr. Akhmedov started his practice in 2004 at a private law firm, where for over ten years he provided legal support to clients in banking and finance, corporate law, investment law, and tax law. The practice covered the full range of bilateral and syndicated finance products from the National Bank of Uzbekistan, including project, export, and structured trade finance, real estate and leveraged acquisition finance, margin loans, mezzanine and sovereign finance, and debt restructuring and repayment.

As part of his extensive practice, he provided legal services to the major shareholders of “Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex” JSC, “Uzmetkombinat” JSC, and acted as a trustee of investment assets to other companies. His duties also included working with the executive body of joint-stock companies to build their business and develop new products.

Mr. Akhmedov is also assisting the major insurance company in developing its insurance capabilities and the provision of capacity to the international reinsurance market, exploring a broader market proposition in terms of capacity and products, and promoting the insurance market.

In 2023 Mels Akhmedov joined the “Leges Advokat” team as a Partner where he provides legal services in banking and finance, corporate law, investment law, tax law, PPP, and construction law.
